Brittainy C. Cherry – Loving Mr. Daniels

Synopsis

To Whom it May Concern,

It was easy to call us forbidden and harder to call us soulmates. Yet I believed we were both. Forbidden soulmates.

When I arrived to Edgewood, Wisconsin I didn’t plan to find him. I didn’t plan to stumble into Joe’s bar and have Daniel’s music stir up my emotions. I had no clue that his voice would make my hurts forget their own sorrow. I had no idea that my happiness would remember its own bliss.

When I started senior year at my new school, I wasn’t prepared to call him Mr. Daniels, but sometimes life happens at the wrong time for all the right reasons.

Our love story wasn’t only about the physical connection.

It was about family. It was about loss. It was about being alive. It was silly. It was painful. It was mourning. It was laughter.

It was ours.

And for those reasons alone, I would never apologize for loving Mr. Daniels.

Véleményem a könyvről

My Review in English

From the most adorable to the most heart-shattering moments there was everything in this beautiful book.  I don’t know why I haven’t read it sooner, maybe because usually I don’t like the “forbidden romance” stories, but this book was so different and it gave me so much more than the other average stories. This book captivated me from the first line and I loved it so much!

After Ashlyn loses her twin sister she has to move to her father to another town, and she has to start her senior year at high school there, too. Ash’s mother can’t bear the grief, and she can’t look at Ash without a breakdown, that’s why she sends away the girl from home to her father, who during her 19 years was just a gift card on the twin’s birthday. Henry is the principal of the new high school of Ashlyn and this is the place where Henry’s stepdaughter and stepson attend, too (By the way I loved Ryan and Hailey from the start, they are very lovable characters).

On the train from Chicago to Edgewood Ashlyn sees a boy with beautiful blue eyes. There is at least so much sadness in his eyes like in hers. At the train station they start a conversation and it turns out that the boy plays in a band and he invites Ash to his concert at Saturday. At the concert there is an instant connection between them and I have to say that in only one night I fell in love with both of the characters. On Monday when the school starts, it turns out that Daniel is Mr. Daniels, the freshly graduated, 22 years old, new English teacher. Until this point is undeniably similar to Slammed but the characters, the wonderful thoughts of the author and the heart-breaking twists and turns made me forget every similarity of the two books.

I loved so many things in this book. I loved the characters so much, I loved the letters and the bucket list that Ashyln’s twin Gabby wrote to Ash. I loved the song lyrics, I loved Mr. Daniel Daniels and every “double” and I loved the whole story.  Maybe there were too much Shakespeare quotes for my taste, but maybe it’s just me. But I can truly say that five stars are not enough for this book, and it became one of my new favorite readings of all time. rcLxkoo6i

My Favorite Quotes From the Book

„Like a wandering star, my body fell into the depths of desire, and I began to beg the heavens that this wasn’t some depression-drenched fantasy – yet if it were, I hoped to never find reality again.”

„When I found his face, everything froze. The world went quiet, and I was staring into blue eyes that made the earth’s brightest oceans look dull.”

„Beautiful.
Breathtaking.
Brilliant.
Blue eyes.
He was Mr. Beautiful Eyes, and a small sigh fell from my lips.”

„He was my golden, and I was his. Forever forever and always always.”

„That feeling stayed with me like a warm glow of happiness from knowing that a part of Gabby had never left. With these letters, she’d somehow fought death. Somehow she’d survived.”

“Anyone on this planet would be lucky if they had the chance to love Mr. Daniels.
Yet I was the luckiest. Because for a moment he loved me back.”

“His kisses tasted like forever soaked in always.”

“You deserve to be the chorus to a person’s favorite song. You deserve to be the dedication in their favorite book.”

“May all beings have immeasurable life spans. May they always live happily, and may even the word ‘death’ disappear.”

“You’re the reason people believe in tomorrow. You’re the voice that scares the shadows away. You’re the love that makes me breathe.”

“The best things in life aren’t easy. They are tough, they are painful, and they are raw. That makes the arrival to the final destination that much sweeter.”

“You didn’t bring me the light, Ashlyn. You are the light.”

Six- Beautiful. Breathtaking. Brilliant.– Stars

  1. Nálam most került sorra.

    1. Ajánlom figyelmedbe az irónő The space in between cimü könyvét is.
