Az igazat megvallva az elején egy picit nehéz volt megírnom ezt az értékelést, és rendezni a csapongó gondolataimat, valószínűleg azért, mert amikor a könyv utolsó oldalaihoz értem, rengeteg érzés kavargott bennem. Olyan érzések, amelyeket csak nagyon kevés könyv tud kiváltani belőlem, és emellett ott volt az a túláradó, tiszta öröm is, hogy olvashattam ezt a gyönyörű történetet.

Ez a könyv nem egy könnyű olvasmány. Néhány igencsak komoly témát érint, úgy mint drogok, családon belüli erőszak és betegségek, ugyanakkor mégis, a sötétség mellett egy aprócska fénysugár mindig képes volt megtalálni az útját a felszínre. Annyira kivételesen szép volt látni, ahogyan a valóság csúfsága és a fény által nyújtott szépség egyesülni tudott ebben a történetben, és hogy Brittainy C. Cherry micsoda tehetséggel, csupán szavai erejével nyújtotta át mindazt a „magasságot” és „mélységet” amelyet ez a gyönyörű kötet tartogatott.

Alyssa Marie Walters és Logan Francis Silverston egy élelmiszerboltban találkoznak először, ahol Alyssa pénztárosként dolgozik. Miután Alyssa kisegíti Logan-t egy kínos szituációból, ők ketten barátokká, majd később legjobb barátokká válnak. A kettejük közötti kötelék az évek során olyan erőssé válik, hogy őszintén úgy gondolják, hogy ezt soha semmi nem szakíthatja el.

Logan a város sötétebbik feléből származik, ahol a mindennapok része az éhség, a drogok és az erőszak. Ugyan hosszabb időszakokra nem tudja lerázni magáról a démonait, azonban amikor Alyssa-val van, minden sokkal jobbnak és egy picit fényesebbnek tűnik. És Logan-nek vannak álmai. Arról álmodozik, hogy egy napon örökre meg fogja találni a kiutat az élete nyújtotta sötétségből, és talán egy napon séf lehet, és saját éttermet nyithat.

Alyssa a város jobbik feléről származik. Az édesanyja egy védőügyvéd, így egy anyagilag is stabil hátterű családból származik, azonban Alyssa-t soha nem érdekelték Lo külsőségei. Az egyetlen dolog, ami érdekli –a zongorázáson kívül-, az a gyönyörű lélekkel teli szív, amely Lo mellkasában lakozik.

Az a szerelem, amelyen Alyssa és Logan közösen osztoznak, őszintén gyönyörű. Mindkettejük karaktere igazán összetett és sokrétű, és örökre bevésték magukat a szívembe. Nagyon szerettem a tökéletlenségeiket, a tiszta szívüket, és hogy minden akadály ellenére az út végén képesek voltak megtalálni a reményt, és a lehetőséget az új esélyekre és a hamuból való újjáéledésre. A könyv egyes részei összetörték a szívemet, majd a következő oldalak ismét képesek voltak mosolyt varázsolni az arcomra. Az írónő stílusa egyszerűen felfoghatatlanul gyönyörű, összesen 63 (!!!) idézetet gyűjtöttem ki ebből a csodálatos könyvből (azt hiszem, hogy ez valamiféle rekord).

Továbbra sem tudom, hogy az epilógus eléggé valósághű volt-e számomra, de a végén mégis nagyon hálás vagyok, hogy ezt a befejezést választotta az írónő. El kell mondanom, hogy Brittainy C. Cherry ismét képes volt egy kedvenc könyvvel megajándékozni, és határozottan mondhatom, hogy számomra ez volt 2016 eddigi legjobb olvasmánya! Elvesztem ebben a történetben. Olvasás közben elvesztettem az időt, elvesztettem a körülöttem lévő dolgokat, néhány órára elveszettem a külvilágot. Brittainy C. Cherry egyike azoknak a szerzőknek, akik csupán azzal a tiszta szépséggel rabul tudnak ejteni, amelyet a gyönyörű szavaik hordoznak. Ő egy igazi tehetség, és minden egyes alkalommal lenyűgöz, ahogy a történetei mindig megtalálják a lelkem legmélyebb, legrejtettebb zugait, ahogyan megérintenek a szavai, és hogy mindig annyi-annyi érzelmet tud előhozni belőlem. Megvettet, kicsordítja a könnyemet, és egyszerűen eléri, hogy érezzek.

My Review in English

To tell the truth, it was a little hard to write this review at the first time, to collect my rambling thoughts. I think because after I finished the last page of this amazing book I felt so many emotions. I felt a way that only very few books can do to my heart, I felt that my feelings are overflowing with the pure joy of reading this beautiful story.

This book is not an easy read. It deals with some pretty serious issues like drugs, abuse and illness. It scratches so many hard surfaces and still – besides all the darkness – a ray of sunshine always could find a way though the dark. It was so amazing how the ugliness and the beauty collided in this mesmerizing story and how Brittainy C. Cherry was able to hand over all the “highs” and “lows” only though her beautiful words to the readers.

Alyssa Marie Walters and Logan Francis Silverston meet one day in a grocery store, where Allyssa works as a cashier. After Alyssa helps him out in an embarrassing situation, they become friends,  and after then best friends. The bond between them grows so strong with the years that they truly believe that nothing can break it apart. Logan lives in the darker side of the town where the everyday contains hunger, drugs and violence. He can’t get rid of his daemons for long periods of time, but when he is with Alyssa everything feels right, and everything feels a little brighter. And Logan has dreams. He is dreaming about that one day he will become a chef and that one day he will find an escape from all the darks of his life.

Alyssa is from the other part of the town, she has a mother who works as an attorney and she has a wealthy background, yet she doesn’t care about the externalities of Lo’s life. The only thing she cares about besides playing the piano is the beautiful soulful heart that lies in Lo’s chest.

The love that Alyssa and Logan share is truly beautiful. Their characters are so layered and complex, and they stole my heart for eternity. I loved their imperfections, their pure hearts and that at the end they always could find a way for possibilities of new chances, of hope, of the rebirth from the ashes. Some parts of the book truly broke my heart, but then the next pages were able to magically put a smile on my face. The writing style was flawless and beautiful, and I highlighted 63 (!!!) quotes in the book (I think it is some kind of record).

I still don’t know that if the epilogue was realistic enough for me or not, but at the end I am truly glad that the author chose this ending. And I have to tell you that this book definitely became a favorite for me, and it was my best read in 2016 so far! I lost myself in this story. I lost track of time, I lost the things around me, and for a few hours I lost the outside world. Brittainy C. Cherry is one of the authors who always can capture me with the pure beauty that her stunning words carry. She is a really brilliant and highly gifted author. It absolutely amazes me how her stories always find the deepest parts of my soul, that she can always touch me with her words and she always able to bring out so many emotions from me. She makes me laugh, she makes me cry, she makes me FEEL.
