Ginger Scott – A Girl Like Me (Like Us #2) – Blog Tour – ARC Review + Giveaway

A Girl Like Me by Ginger Scott
Book 2 in the Like Us Duet
A mature YA romance, and a little something more…
Release day: May 26

Synopsis

I’m not supposed to be here.

Death has come for me more than once, and each time it’s been a boy who’s stood between me and my final breath.

I called him Christopher when he saved me as a child. When he came into my life again, only months ago, I knew him as Wes. Just as he did the time before, he disappeared the moment he made sure I was out of harm’s way; as
if I didn’t need any more saving.

This time, though, death left me with a reminder of how powerful it is. I know it meant to strip me of my spirit again, but it failed.

Even so, I know I need Wes to survive. Our souls are woven together somehow, our every breath in sync. I feel it, even though everyone says I shouldn’t.

The world thinks he’s missing.
His loved ones don’t want to believe he’s dead.
Only I know just how special he is.

I’m going to find him and bring him home, where he belongs. Together, we’ll face impossible—we’ll rewrite our ending.

And when the bad guys come calling, we will always win.

**Figyelem: az értékelés spoilereket tartalmazhat A Boy Like You-ra nézve.

My Review in English

**Warning: This review may contains spoilers for A Boy Like You.
No spoiler for Book 2.
PLEASE NOTE, this novel is NOT a standalone. It is highly recommended to read A Boy Like You first to get the entire arc of the story and to avoid spoilers. **

After the thousand questions A Boy Like You left behind, I can easily say that this was one of my most anticipated books of 2017, but it even exceeded all my expectations. Ginger Scott was able to wove together this story so perfectly and cleverly that it absolutely blew me away.

At the end of A Boy Like You a circle closed and a boy and a hero had lost. In A Girl Like Me Joss tries to find his hero and she takes off on a journey with her best friend, Kyle. This is the story where mysterious clues are found, puzzle pieces come together and secrets are revealed.

I truly loved everything about this book and I know I always say this, but I think this duet is truly my favorite by Ginger so far. 🙂 ❤ I loved how all the threads connected at the end and I loved the message of the story, that there are many different kinds of superheroes and Joss is also one of them. She is super in her own way and I’m so proud of her because of everything that she archived and how she could rise above everything that life threw at her.

This duet is unexpected, unique and outstanding with amazing, unforgettable characters and with a kind of plot that kept me at the edge of my seat during my whole read. I loved how the author dared to step out of the usual boundaries to try out something different and I loved how she touched many serious subject matters in this story too, with exceptional talent and professionalism.

The Like Us duet is a truly emotional journey about first love, new challenges, friendship and two fates bound together forever, but it is also a story of hope. Hope that heroes truly exist and everyone can find their own even sometimes in the most unexpected places. I highly recommend this duet for everyone! ❤

My Favorite Quotes from the Book

“My boy is bashful. He’s also beautiful, the way he looks into me, seeing my entire story—the broken parts and the pieces he’s managed to repair.”

“Bonfires, basement parties, and the abandoned shed where the football team’s equipment is stored—I was that kind of girl. But not anymore, and never again. Wes has taught me what tender means, what love is, and what self-respect deserves.”

“He looks at me with this unfathomable love that I never quite feel good enough to deserve. I’m starting to think that loving each other is a curse. Maybe that’s the moral of our story—we suffer and overcome, then risk again.”

“I love you something fierce,” he whispers, and for the first time in an hour, my pulse begins to slow.”
” I’m not sure I understand what love like this is. I’m not sure anyone could.”

“Wes is special. And deep inside, I know that he and I were meant to walk the same path. Our roads were always meant to intersect. Those reasons, though—they’ve changed.”

“I look inside him, my eyes boring so deeply into his that I can actually see the boy who lives inside. I see us, and that day, and all of the days that came before and after. We are forever connected.”

A sucker for a good romance, Ginger’s other passion is sports, and she often blends the two in her stories. (She’s also a sucker for a hot quarterback, catcher, pitcher, point guard…the list goes on.) Ginger has been writing and editing for newspapers, magazines and blogs for more than 15 years. She has told the stories of Olympians, politicians, actors, scientists, cowboys, criminals and towns. For more on her and her work, visit her website at http://www.littlemisswrite.com.

When she’s not writing, the odds are high that she’s somewhere near a baseball diamond, either watching her son field pop flies like Bryce Harper or cheering on her favorite baseball team, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ginger lives in Arizona and is married to her college sweetheart whom she met at ASU (fork ’em, Devils).
