Mia Sheridan – Grayson’s Vow

Synopsis

Kira Dallaire is desperate.

Some challenges in life seem too hard to overcome. With little money, and even fewer options, the quick-witted and vibrant twenty-two-year-old needs to reinvent herself. Known for her generous heart and impulsive personality, she devises a survival plan, possibly her most outrageous idea yet.

Grayson Hawthorn is losing hope.

Some obstacles in life seem too hard to overcome. Betrayal definitely being one of them. With limited capital, and dwindling resources, he is attempting to resurrect his failing family vineyard, a self-imposed vow seemingly destined to fail. That is until a young woman enters his office with an outlandish, unexpected proposition impossible to refuse.

What begins as a temporary business arrangement, soon evolves into more as vivacious, spirited Kira challenges detached, arrogant Grayson to want more from life. To want more for himself. But as their wills clash and fiery passion ignites, they’ll realize that sometimes the past creates walls too difficult to climb, and that lies and deception rarely precede a happily every after.

As Kira and Grayson race toward their destiny, they will discover that some vows are meant to be broken, and others are worth risking everything for . . . even your very own heart.

THIS IS A STANDALONE SIGN OF LOVE NOVEL, INSPIRED BY LIBRA. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

Véleményem a könyvről

5 csillag? 6 csillag? 100 csillag?

A Sign of Love sorozatról

My Review in English

5 stars? 6 stars? 100 stars? I would give Mia Sheridan all the stars from the sky. I loved it! But it is not a surprise because Mia Sheridan is one of the most talented authors of all time. Every one of her books is beautifully written and amazing. The whole Sing of Love series is inimitable, unrepeatable and unique, and every one of the stories is something different.

This story was also exceptional because at the beginning it reminded me of some kind of soap opera, but the author could twist this story a way that at the end it magically became a wonderful story, full with heart-ache, love, tease and smile.

This book is inspired by Libra, the astrological sign of balance. I just can’t tell you how perfect that was! In this book the glee and sadness, the love and hate, the trust and distrust, the prejudice and the lack of prejudice was in a beautiful balance. I also found this balance in the writing style, because there were a lot of serious thoughts in this book, but there were also humor, too.  I loved the characters so much! And I loved that they were perfect and imperfect at the same time.

The main character is Kira, who just arrived from her one year long trip from Africa, where she escaped from her politically influential, cold family. Unfortunately, when she comes back she has no money and she would rather sleep on a street corner than accept a single cent from his father. So she is in the bank closing her catastrophically poor account, when the name of Grayson Hawthorn hits her ear.  She knew his name from a former case of her father’s, and it makes her really curious about this men. It turns out that Grayson is as much as broke as her, and his loan request just has been rejected. He inherited a failing vineyard from his father what he wants to revive from its ashes, but he urgently needs money for that because he hasn’t enough for pay his employees and he has especially no money for fixing the broken equipments or buy new ones. When Kira sees Grayson in the bank, she believes that it is fate, so she takes her courage and goes to the Hawthorn vineyard to offer a solution for both of their problems. Kira has the key of the solution, but the question is that will Grayson trust her? And are they morally strong enough to make this step, which could bring light in their darkest hours?

This book was unbelievingly captivating and twisting. There were so beautiful thoughts and so lovable moments in this book that it’s no question that this Mia Sheridan book also belongs to my “favorite shelf”.  No doubt, I absolutely fell in love with the story of the “witch and the dragon”. 🙂

My Favorite Quotes From the Book

„You bring me peace, little witch, and you put a fire in my blood.”

„She was an enigma. I couldn’t figure her out, and I didn’t have the time or the inclination to try. And yet, for some inane reason, I had trouble resisting the allure of meeting the challenges she dished out, trouble resisting the desire to make that fire flash in her eyes. I craved it. The way she looked when she flew into a rage—her cheeks flushed, her eyes smoldering and filled with indignation . . .
She kept me constantly off balance and for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out why I liked it so much.”

„And these vows, made in private whispers in the dim light of the moon streaming through our bedroom window, felt sacred and real, for these vows were based on truth and love.”

„I stood slowly and as he started to walk toward me, I held up my hand, motioning for him to stop so I could come to him. Because I suddenly understood that sometimes it’s right to meet in the middle, but sometimes, the simplest act of grace is to meet the other person where they are. That, that is love.”

„And the truth that love had taught me was you can only be strong once you are brave enough to break, and that pain makes more room for love within. I was grateful for it all, because that was the beautiful balance of life.”

„She was beautiful.
Irrationally, I felt duped, as if the little witch had put some kind of spell on me. Maybe it wasn’t so irrational—she probably had. Bewitching little troublemaker.”

„There is always pain in this life. Not just for me, not just for you—for everyone. You can’t avoid it. And sometimes the pain is so great, it feels as if it carves out the very essence of who you are. But it doesn’t, not if you don’t allow it to. It carves out a place in you, yes, but love is meant to fill that space. If you let it, pain makes more space for love within you. And the love we carry inside makes us strong when nothing else can.”

„Irritating little witch. Sweet, compassionate, irritating little witch.”

„Because the problem is, you can’t shut off one emotion without shutting off all your emotions. You have to feel the pain if you’re going to feel the joy. It’s just the way it works.”

„The man named Virgil, who I suspected was mentally delayed, stepped forward. „I’m real happy to meet you, ma’am. Mr. Grayson says he might be marrying you, and I think that’s real fine. He says he can’t figure whether you’re a spoiled princess or a little witch, but I think if you are a witch, it’s the good kind ’cuz you sure are pretty.”

„True love is the greatest leap of faith there is. (…) And bear this in mind; love is not always smooth and easy. Love can be piercing. Love means exposing yourself—all of yourself, every tender part—to being hurt. Because true love is not only the flower, true love is also the thorns.”

„I had to admit his looks had swayed me, too. He looked like every hero in every fairy tale I’d ever dreamed, come to life. And, God, I wanted to believe in heroes again.
But sometimes, I supposed, a girl just had to be her own hero.
Especially when the hero in question turned out to be a dragon.”

„(…) there’s nothing on earth like the feel of someone who loves you grasping your hand in the dark when you’re lost and afraid.”

Six – „Forget the prince and princess. I always imagined the real story was between the witch and the dragon.”- Stars
