R.S. Grey az egyik kedvenc írónőm, de be kell vallanom, hogy bár aranyos és jó volt ez a könyv, valahogy számomra ez most nem volt az igazi… Nehezen megfogható az, hogy mi is ennek az oka, de ha a lehető legegyszerűbben szeretnék fogalmazni, számomra egy picit túl “limonádé” volt. 🙂 Egy tengerparti nyaralás mellé kitűnőnek gondolom, de számomra ez nem volt több annál a kategóriánál, és valahogy ez alkalommal az írónő kiváló “hangosan felnevetős” -típusú humorát is hiányoltam, ami a többi könyvénél pontosan a történet lelkét adja. Viszont ezután szeretnék elutazni Olaszországba, mondjuk most azonnal. 🙂
A történet főszereplője Georgie, aki Angliából Olaszországba “menekül”, miután az anyja nem képes felhagyni a törekvéssel, hogy párt találjon a lányának. A lány úgy érzi, hogy évek óta csak vakrandevúkból áll az élete, és egyetlen lélegzetvételnyi szabad pillanata sincs már, így megpörgeti a földgömböt, fogja magát és elutazik arra a helyre, amit a sors szán neki. Mivel az ujja Vernazza kicsiny városkáján áll meg, ez lesz ez a hely, ahol Georgie megpróbál férjet találni. Azonban a tökéletes férfi helyett Georgie szívét pontosan a falu legtávolságtartóbb, leggorombább férfija dobogtatja meg, a kérdés már csak az, hogy képes lesz-e a folyton csacsogó, mindig mosolygó lány lerombolni azt a hosszú évek precizitásával felépített falat, amelyet Gianluca épített maga köré?
Számomra igazi meglepetésként hatott, mikor rájöttem, hogy Georgie nem más, mint Freddie húga a The Summer Games-ből, és igazán tetszett, hogy az írónő tényleg angolosan igyekezett megírni ezt a kötetet, brit szleng szavak használatával. A történet helyszíne Olaszország, és nem bántásból, de mégis kicsit olyan lett, mint mikor egy amerikai akar európai helyszínről romantikus regényt írni, kicsit giccses és túlromanticizált. :))) (Bár miután ‘rágugliztam’ Vernazza-ra és megkerestem a leesett államat és a gyönyörűségtől elalélt szívemet, ezt a mondatomat talán visszaszívom, mert hű… 😍 )
Mindettől függetlenül nagyon tetszett az olaszországi helyszín, a rengeteg finom ételről nem is beszélve ami az oldalakon található, komolyan folyton éhes voltam, amíg olvastam ezt a könyvet. 🙂 A szereplők is tetszettek, de ahogy már említettem, valahogy hiányzott az írónő humora.
Az alapötlet, “egy tragédia után remeteségbe vonuló férfi és egy fáradhatatlan lány” története szerintem tényleg nagyon jó volt, de talán szerencsésebb lett volna (és kevésbe vasárnap délutáni családi film érzés), ha a lány nem eleve azért utazik Vernazza-ba, hogy férjet találjon. 🙂
Összességében egy hétvégi kikapcsolódásnak tökéletes volt, sőt őszintén el tudnám képzelni a filmvásznon is ezt a történetet. 🙂
R. S. Grey is one of my favorite authors, but still I felt like something was off about this book for me. It’s quite hard to put my finger on it, but maybe it was too fluffy for my taste and I really missed the typical sense of humor of the author that usually gives the soul to her stories. But it’s a great beach read and in that category it’s still great!
The heroin of the book is Georgie, who “escapes” to Italy from England, after her mother can’t give up the intention to find a match for her daughter. Georgie feels that her life is nothing more than a mix of blind dates and she can’t breath anymore. One day she spins the globe, packs her things and travels to the place what fate shows her. And this place is Vernazza. This little Italian town is the place where Georgie tries to find love, but instead of finding the perfect husband-to-be, unfortunately her heart starts to beat faster for the grumpiest, most distant guy in town. The only question is, that will the always talking and smiling girl be able to tear down the walls that Gianluca built around himself years ago?
It was a surprise for me that this book is about Freddie’s little sis from The Summer Games-Settling the Score, and I really liked that the author tried to make this book authentic and used a lot of British slang. 🙂 I also loved that the story took place in Italy (OMG! Vernazza is so beautiful, and I want to go to Italy, like… right now! 😍) and I haven’t even mentioned yet the great foods that were in this book! I was constantly hungry while I was reading this story 🙂 Although I loved the characters, I really missed the typical R. S. grey humor from this book.
I think the basic idea, that “a man who became a hermit after a big tragedy meets with a restless girl” was really good, but maybe it would have been better if she wouldn’t travel to Vernazza precisely because she wanted to find a husband. 🙂
Overall this book is a great read for a weekend or for a relaxing day on the beach, and I also can picture this story on a movie screen. 🙂

“We’d agreed there would be no strings attached, but that wasn’t really how strings worked. It was just a platitude uttered months ago, back when I didn’t know what it felt like to lie with Georgie in my arms, to feel her fingers drag through my hair, to feel her soft breath drift across my chest. And her smile—being on the receiving end of one of Georgie’s smiles was like feeling the summer sun as it breaks through the clouds.”

Bár már megvettem, a Testcsel-t, de még nem jutottam hozzá, az értékeléseid alapján jókat ír.

Hát, mintha valaki kérdezte volna őket, és sajnos nem volt túl biztató a válaszuk. Én többször is bekukacoltam őket a With This Heart kapcsán, mert úgy gondolom, hogy egyértelműen az volt az eddigi legjobb könyv az írónőtől ( hat csillagos kedvenc :)), de ezen kívül is rengeteg szuper könyve van, úgyhogy én nagyon drukkolok azért, hogy a KMK lecsapjon a többi kötetre is. 🙂
