R. S. Grey – With This Heart

Synopsis

If someone had told me a year ago that I was about to fall in love, go on an epic road trip, ride a Triceratops, sing on a bar, and lose my virginity, I would have assumed they were on drugs.

Well, that is, until I met Beckham.

Beck was mostly to blame for my recklessness. Gorgeous, clever, undeniably charming Beck barreled into my life as if it were his mission to make sure I never took living for granted. He showed me that there were no boundaries, rules were for the spineless, and a kiss was supposed to happen when I least expected.

Beck was the plot twist that took me by surprise. Two months before I met him, death was knocking at my door. I’d all but given up my last scrap of hope when suddenly, I was given a second chance at life. This time around, I wasn’t going to let it slip through my fingers.

We set out on a road trip with nothing to lose and no guarantees of tomorrow.

Our road trip was about young, reckless love. The kind of love that burns bright.

The kind of love that no road-map could bring me back from.

Véleményem a könyvről

Hivatalosan is új kedvencet avattam.

My Review in English

What would you do with your life, if you got a second chance?

I loved every single line! I didn’t reach the bottom of the second page, when I started to lough really hard, and after that it happened about every 5-10 minutes again and again.  You don’t wait that from a New Adult book, do you? 🙂 This book was extraordinary and above average in every way. I absolutely couldn’t put it down! I loved the characters, the sense of humor of the author, that I had a goofy smile on my face all time while I was reading.

Abby got a special gift from life. She got a second chance. One day she plans a road trip without her overprotective parents knowing, because she feels that she has to start to live her life. The story starts in a funeral home where Abby wants to buy an urn (?) (it turns out later whats for). This is where she meets Beck, a gorgeous, charming guy with a good sense of humor who wants to find out everything about this girl and he wants to sweep her off her feet. 🙂 Finally Beck joins her in this road trip which is filled with laughter, freedom, self-discovery, a lots of teasing and love. It’s a journey where Abby learns how to live and do things that she will never have done.

I never would thought but I loved this book more than The Edge of Never, despite that is one of my favorites, too!

There were lots of funny moments but there were chapters which broke my heart. But in these sad moments the author could bring a smile on my face, too. I loved the characters so much and I loved the message of the book. This was funny, sad, carefree and thought-provoking. It is officially became my new favorite. 🙂

My Favorite Quotes From the Book

”What do you possibly have to lose?” I flashed her a pointed stare. “Uh my life…my virginity…my freedom…my parent’s trust.”

“Love will make you reckless. It can drag out parts of you that common sense and fear usually keep hidden away. Because love is selfless and selfish.”

“So you’re a stalker?” I asked with a hard stare. He smirked, a knees-turning-to jelly kind of smirk. “I prefer gravitationally linked to your presence.”

“Her hand wrapped around my fingers, tightening my hold on the tarnished locket. “I love you with this heart.”

“He was a handsome guy in a baseball cap and I was a cynical girl picking out an urn.”

”What?” I asked.
He shook his head, but his grin never faltered.
“Nothing. Just trying to remember this moment..”
“Why?”
“Because our lives will never be the same.”

”What do you possibly have to lose?” I flashed her a pointed stare. “Uh my life…my virginity…my freedom…my parent’s trust.”

“Jesus…oh my…God, BECK,” I moaned, collecting small pieces of the world around me; my fingers digging into his hair, my hips pressing up to meet his mouth, the rain pelting the roof of the Camper.
“Did you just include me in the Holy Trinity?”

First sentence:

“On a rather insignificant Saturday afternoon, I stood in a funeral home searching through rows of urns as if I was browsing down the aisles of a supermarket.
(…)
“ I’m sorry, are you here to pick out an urn or…?” I asked, looking around for clues to his strange, albeit interesting, behavior.

“ No,” he answered simply.
“ No?”
He shrugged his shoulders innocently. “I like coming in and checking out the latest models. Never know when you’ll need one.”
I gaped. “Are you serious?”
Cue a sexy smile. Damn. “No. I was getting a slurpee across the street and I saw you walk in, so I followed you on a whim.”
I narrowed my eyes in confusion. Of course. He’s too hot to be normal.”

About the Author

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things… everyday.

I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors are Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I’m a comedy geek and love all things “funny”. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
