Rachel Higginson – The Difference Between Us (Opposites Attract #2) – ARC Review

Synopsis

I’m cursed.

At least when it comes to finding Mr. Right.

I’m tired of men that only want one night stands or blind dates that are nothing but awkward and uncomfortable. I’m tired of avoiding inappropriate text messages and the constant disappointment of always meeting Mr. Wrong.

After all these years of dates that lead nowhere, I can admit that it’s me. I’m the problem. I’m shy and picky and cursed. Definitely cursed.

So I’ve decided two things.

The first? I’m giving up dating and relationships and men in general. Maybe, possibly, forever.

The second? I’m going to have to try harder to avoid Ezra Baptiste.

If I couldn’t hack it in the kiddy pool of dating, I certainly can’t swim in his deep end. He’s too successful. Too intense. He’s all man when I’m used to nothing but boys pretending to be grownups. He’s everything I’m afraid to want and so far out of my league we might as well be different species entirely.

So he’ll need to find a different artist to paint his mural. And a different graphic designer to help him with his website. He’ll need to find someone else to glare at and flirt with and kiss.

It can’t be me.

We’re too different.

🙂 Az első kötet, a The Opposite of You egy hihetetlenül jó humoros történet két séf, Vera és Killian háborújáról. Rengeteget nevettem és olvadoztam az olvasás közben ráadásul folyton éhes voltam. (Lol. :D) A könyvről írt értékelésem itt olvasható.

A The Difference Between Us hangulata valahol hasonlított az előző kötetére, azonban sokban különbözött tőle. Itt is voltak humoros pillanatok és vicces szócsaták, ugyanakkor ez inkább egy lassan épülő románc volt, nem az a háborús robbanás, mint Vera és Killian kapcsolata. 🙂

Molly egy grafikus tervező, akinek igazi művész lelke van, aki folyton elkésik minden találkozóról, aki élete egy kicsit káoszos, ugyanakkor nevetéssel teljes. Ezra mindennek a tökéletes ellentéte.

My Review in English

I loved this book so much! It was so good to visit again the word of restaurants and I love these characters so much that I feel like I can’t get enough of them. The first part of this series, The Opposite of You is an amazing funny read about a war of two chefs, Vera and Killian. During my read I laughed so much, I constantly swooned over it and I was always hungry (Lol :D). It was truly amazing! The feeling of The Difference Between Us was quite familiar but it was still different than the former part of the series. There were funny moments and great banters here too, but it was a really good slow-burn romance instead of the explosion of war like in the first book.

Molly is a graphic designer, who has an artistic soul, who is always late from meetings, whose life is a little messy but fun. Ezra is the exact opposite. He is a restaurateur, who is always collected, always working, who is strict and seems a little cold. When back then they first met through Vera and Killian, we can easily say that it was a complete disaster. But opposites sometimes attract each other and when Ezra hires Molly for a new web design and social media appearance for his restaurants, they have to learn to work together and they slowly realize that difference sometimes is not bad at all, sometimes it brings a new breeze into someone’ life.

I loved Molly and Ezra so much! They both were layered characters and their contrast was absolutely perfect! The writing style was outstanding and I truly enjoyed the bickering between the characters, the humorous scenes and I also loved the slow-building of Molly and Ezra’s relationship.

This series is one of my favorites this year without a question and I can’t wait to read Wyatt’s story!

My Favorite Quotes From the Book
“We are different, but in the best possible ways.”

“Ezra had been this life-changing event that had shaken up everything I’d convinced myself that I knew about the world, dating, and men. He didn’t come into my life gradually or delicately. He swept in like a wildfire, consuming every single thought and word and thing until there was only him and me and it was like we were always supposed to be this way.”
“Whatever had started between us as a seedling of angst, had blossomed into a tree with roots and stretching branches.”

“You’re unexpected and lovely, and something that very much feels like salvation,”

“He was the dark sky before the rain fell. The flash of distant lightning. The roll of thunder, low and rumbling. He was big, billowy clouds stretching from one horizon to the other.”

“I refused to be that girl. I refused to be hypnotized by his good looks and entranced by his secret charm. I refused to find his dark eyes mesmerizing and his smile adorably boyish. I refused to like this man that was heavy-handed and bossy and so ridiculously confident.

Do you hear that, libido? This is a sexy man boycott!

“Ezra Baptiste had some kind of magic juju that lured confident, professional women in and turned them into melting piles of goo.”
