Véleményem a könyvről

My Review in English

After I finished this book a couple of nights ago, I just laid there and stared the ceiling for a long time, while silent tears run down my face and I didn’t even made an effort to wipe them away, because what’s the point? They already flood at the entire evening. And meanwhile I was thinking about my feelings about this book, only one word echoed again and again in my head: perfect. This book was perfect from the first page till the last. It ripped my heart out and warmed it at the same time. I sobbed bitterly because it hurt me, hurt me so much, but it brought smile on my face, too. With every single kiss of the thousand, I felt that my own heart skipped a beat, too. It was incredible.

Poppy and Rune met when they were only five years old, when Rune moves to Georgia from Norway with his family right next door to Poppy’s family. Poppy is a really special little girl. Every new day is a new adventure for her, she sees everything more cheerful, brighter, and more exciting than others. When she sees the new boy with his long blond hair, she immediately climbs through her window and hurries to him. She instantly concludes that Rune is a real Viking and from now they must be best friends. 🙂 And from this point they becomes truly inseparable.

Poppy’s other best friend is her grandma, who taught her to live every day as full as possible, because every new day is a new adventure. But Poppy is just 8 years old when her Mamaw passes away, but before she is gone she sends little Poppy for a final adventure. She gives her a big mason jar filled with a thousand pink paper hearts. Her mission is that she has to collect a “thousand boy kisses”. If someone kisses her in a special way and she feels that her heart almost burst from her chest she has to write down one of the blank paper hearts and put back in the jar, and this adventure will last her whole life…

This book was pure beauty. My tears were still running hours after I finished the book and the tears are still lingering on my eyes while I type up this review. I loved Poppy! She was a character I wish I could know in real life. She is the girl who enjoys every single second of life, who sees everything beautiful, who smiles even at the most painful hours. She is the girl who dances in the ocean or under the cherry blossom trees, who wakes up early every day to watch the sunrise, because every day holds a new beauty. Who doesn’t likes to sleep, because she thinks that sleep is just wasted time that she could spend with new adventures.

The love between Poppy and Rune was breathtakingly beautiful. I truly believe that this kind of love exists. That it is possible that someone finds their other half this young. There were so many beauty in this book, and the author hand over these loads of emotion through a beautiful writing style. Thanks so much for Tillie Cole for this amazing, emotional adventure.

My Favorite Quotes From the Book

“It was why she was my everything. My forever always. Because she was unique. Unique in a town full of carbon-copy bimbos. She didn’t want to cheer, or bitch, or chase boys. She knew she had me, just as much as I had her.
We were all we needed.”

“When you’re near, my heart doesn’t sigh, it soars,” she whispered, as if she didn’t want to disturb the sound. “I think hearts beat a rhythm like a song. I think, that just like music, we’re drawn to a particular melody. I heard your heart’s song, and yours heard mine.”

“She only ever recorded the extra-special kisses. Only the ones that made her feel her heart was full. Every time we kissed, I waited for those words.”

“Poppy and Rune—there was no beginning to us and no end.”

“A single set of footprints on my soul.”

“Watching Poppy embrace nature was like watching an answered prayer. The joy in her expression seemed limitless, the peace in her spirit humbling.”

“Kiss eight hundred and nineteen was the kiss that changed it all. The kiss that proved that a long-haired brooding boy from Norway and a quirky girl from the Deep South could find a love to rival the greats.
It showed that love was simply the tenacity to make sure that the other half of your heart knew he, or she, was adored in every way. In every minute of every day. That love was tenderness in its purest form.”

“My lips are yours. Not for anyone else.”

Home , sweetie,” my mamaw said. “I’m going home.”
“But you are home,” I countered.
“No”—Mamaw shook her head—“this isn’t our true home, girlie. This life … well, it’s just a great big adventure while we have it. An adventure to enjoy and love with all of our heart before we go on to the greatest adventure of all.”

About the Author

Tillie Cole is a Northern girl through and through.71DrNFE70dL._UX250_ She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her mother — a farmer’s daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.

Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish, which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved thirty miles north to the ‘Toon’, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. She regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven ‘proper mint’, ‘lush’ years.

Tillie, from a very young age has been part of the theatre community and loves nothing more than to entertain through the mediums of cheerleading, dance, drama and singing (sometimes in the rain). She can also be found in nightclubs around the world imitating her favourite artists alongside her crazy BFF’s – The Teesside Massive – or, sat on the front row at the theatre bopping along to her favourite musical, ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show ‘, clad in a only a maids outfit, clutching a bag of rice and sporting a vibrant shade of red lipstick.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, “D’you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book.” Several months later, repeating the same tired line, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and ‘just bloody do it!’ Immediately she set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination. Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humour and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – they’re her weakness!).

After years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or in her dream of pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap, Stetson-wearing cowgirl… Ye-haw!

    1. Jó lenne tudni, hogy mikor jön magyarul… Most elküldtem az egyik kiadónak, akivel kapcsolatban állok, aztán meglátjuk… 😀 Én mindig igyekszem a lehető legtöbb helyre eljuttatni a nagy kedvenceimet, aztán látod néha-néha sikerül.

              További szép estét !
