Amy Harmon, egyszerűen nem tudom, hová tudod még bővíteni a palettádat, de ez megint csak valami semmihez sem hasonlítható könyv volt! Ezúttal nem a megszokott szívszaggató, százas csomag zsepit elhasználós Amy Harmon történetet kaptam. Ez egy humoros, izgalmas, különleges, road tripes, instant-szerelmes könyv. És igen, Amy Harmon ilyet is tud! Egyszerűen nem lehet nem imádni ezt az írónőt! 🙂

Ez a szó szerinti Bonnie és Clyde zörténet az első oldaltól az utolsóig magával ragadott, és nagyon jól szórakoztam olvasása közben. Ismét hihetetlen igényességgel, egyedi, jól eltalált szereplőkkel és izgalmakkal töltötte meg az írónő az oldalakat, de talán a legkülönlegesebb a könyvben, mégis maga a felépítése volt. Gyakorlatilag háromféle narrációt találunk a kötetben. Egyes fejezeteket Bonnie mesél el E/1 személyben, más fejezeteket egy külső narrátor (aki nagyjából inkább a fiú szemszögét képviseli), a harmadik szemszög pedig maguk a híradások, amelyek az aktuális “Bonnie és Clyde” updateket adják. (Talán ezeken szórakoztam a legjobban, hogy a média hogy közvetíti és csavarja ki, hogy az útjuk során mi is történt velük. Volt itt szó elrablásról, kocsilopásról, sőt még gyilkosságról is. :))

Ez a könyv olyan szempontból is különleges volt, hogy bár Finn szinte autisztikusan zseni volt a számokkal, mégsem az a John Green-féle fura karakter kerekedett ki belőle, akit szeretsz is meg nem is, hanem nagyon szerethető szereplőt kreált belőle az írónő. Bonnie pedig.. Hát ő néha picit bolond, de amúgy végletekig imádnivaló női főszereplő, ők ketten pedig a legfurább és legaranyosabb párost alkották. Az biztos, hogy olvasás közben végig ott bujkált egy kis mosoly a szám sarkában.

A történet főszereplője Bonnie Rae Shelby, a Grammy díjas fiatal Country-Pop énekesnő, aki turnéjának utolsó állomásához ér Bostonba. Elénekli az utolsó dalát, visszamegy az öltözőjébe, ahol szép nyugodtan fogja és levágja gyönyörű szőke haját, majd inkognitóban elhagyja a koncert helyszínét. Bonnie néhány éve leukémiában elvesztette ikertestvérét és azóta csak fél életet él. Így, hogy befejezte az aktuális turnéját, úgy érzi, most már végre vége lehet mindennek, így taxival elmegy a Mystic River hídjához és éppen leugrani készül, amikor is arra vetődik Infinity “Finn” Clyde, mint herceg a fehér lovon és megmenti a lányt. Végül úgy alakul, hogy Bonnie csatlakozik Finnhez, aki éppen az ország másik végébe, Las Vegasba tart. Bonnie szeretne egy picit eltűnni a rivaldafényből, az életéből ahol nincs helye a gyásznak, és főleg a nagymamája elől, aki történetesen az asszisztense. (Ő volt a legnegatívabb szereplő az egész könyvben, és őszintén nem is csodálkozom rajta, hogy Bonnie meg akart tőle szabadulni egy időre. :)) Mivel a srác nem igazán van otthon a Country-Popban, így gőze sincs, hogy ki az a szomorú, furcsa, tépett hajú lány aki útitársaként mellészegődött az útján, és akiről érzi, hogy csak bajt fogja hozni rá.

Igen ám, de egy Grammy díjas énekesnő nem tűnhet csak úgy el a Föld színéről, így a rendőrség azonnal elkezdi keresni őket. Sajnos helyzetükön az sem segít, hogy Clyde-nak van egy-két csontváz a szekrényében, ráadásul ahol csak megfordulnak, káoszt hagynak maguk után. Ezt persze a média erősen meglovagolja, és végül már a rendőrség mellett az FBI is bevonásra kerül, tehát valóban komolyan menekülőre kell fogniuk a dolgot. A történetet különleges megvilágításba helyezi a párhuzam, amelyet köztük, és a 85 évvel azelőtt, Bonnie és Clyde-al történt események között lehet húzni. Nem tudni, hogy Finn-t és Bonnie Rae-t a véletlen, vagy a sors terelte egymás útjába, de egy biztos, hogy mindketten mély sebeket hordoznak magukban, amelyet a közös kaland lépésről lépésre segít begyógyítani.

A végére egy sokkal szövevényesebb és izgalmasabb történet sült ki, mint amit elképzeltem. Izgultam a szereplőkért Bonnie-ért és Finn-ért, és hogy meglegyen a Happy End-jük, főleg azután, hogy mikor már azt hittem, hogy na most már végre minden megoldódik, jött a fekete leves. A borító pedig szerintem annyira jól sikerült, hogy ha lehetne, az még biztosan megérdemelne egy plusz csillagot. 🙂

My Review in English

Amy Harmon, I don’t know how you can create so much different kind of books, but this was unlike any other, AGAIN! This time I didn’t got a ‘read with a box of tissues’ kind of book, but a special, exciting road trip romance with insta love and a good sense of humor. And yes! Amy Harmon can write this kind of books, too! I absolutely can’t not fall in love with this author over and over again.

This was literally a Bonnie and Clyde type of story, and just like the original Bonnie & Clyde, their story seems timeless too. I loved this book so much, and like any other Amy Harmon story, it was beautifully written with brilliant characters and a lot of excitement. Maybe the most special about this book was the narration. We got three different kind of views in the book. Some chapters told by Bonnie, some chapters told by an outside observer (this is Clyde’s perspective) and there are also the news reports. I liked these letter ones the best, because these were so funny. 🙂 They told only the half truths about them, and involved, “kidnapping, extortion, theft, grand theft, assault, and attempted murder”, as they chased Bonnie and Clyde across the country.

This story was really special from several aspects. Bonnie is a superstar country musician and songwriter, Finn is a mathematical genius. I loved them both so much! Finn is – beside his mathematical talent – a very lovable character… and Bonnie? Bonnie is sometimes a little crazy but I loved her so much too! 🙂 They were the weirdest, funniest and cutest couple! When I was reading this book, I had a smile on my face the whole time.

Bonnie Rae Shelby is a famous country singer. After her last stop on her tour in Boston she escapes to the bridge of the Mystic River and she want to jump when Infinty „Finn” Clyde – like a knight in a shining armor – saves her. When Finn saves Bonnie he has no idea who she is. He just sees a strange sad girl with a funny haircut who wants to escape from her life. Finally, she joins Finn on his road trip to Las Vegas. The problem is, that a Country Pop Star with a Grammy award can’t just disappear from the Earth, so the police and later the FBI start to search for her. The fact that Finn has some skeletons in his closet also doesn’t help, so after some time they seriously have to run and the media and news reports make everything so much worse, too.

We don’t know that it was the faith or just a coincidence that Bonnie and Finn met, but both of them had deep scars in their hearts, and this journey helps them heal.

The end of the novel was really exciting, twisting and complicated. I loved it soooo much! And the cover design of the book is so perfect and beautiful! 🙂
