Synopsis

Véleményem a könyvről

Ez a kötet a Hopeless-sorozat elolvasása után került a kezembe, és talán nem taglózott le annyira, mint az, de mégis szinte hihetetlen, hogy ez volt Colleen Hoover első regénye! Ez a könyv egyszerre volt csodálatos, elképesztő, szívet-tépő és lebilincselő! Egyszerűen imádom Colleen Hoovert, ő az egyik kedvenc kortárs írónőm. Talán azért is szeretem a könyveit annyira, mert egyszerű, de igényes nyelvezettel és humorral ír, azonban minden egyes könyve a lelked mélyéig hatol és a történetnek mindig van valami mondanivalója. Mindig megtalálja a módot, hogy hogyan tehetné különlegessé a könyveit, legyen az zene, a könyvében megelevenülő festmények vagy egy egészen különleges váltott szemszög. Ez esetben a slammed poetry az, amely nem mindennapivá varázsolja ezt a kötetet és ezúttal ez az, amely leginkább közvetíti a könyv mondanivalóját.

Édesapja elvesztése után a 18 éves Laykennek Texasból Michiganbe kell költöznie édesanyjával és 9 éves kisöccsével, miután anyagilag már nem engedhetik meg maguknak a texasi életet. Amikor megérkeznek az új házukhoz, Layken kisöccse, Kel egyből összebarátkozik a vele egykorú szomszéd kisfiúval Caulderrel és így ismerkedik meg Layken Caulder bátyjával Willel. Layken és Will között azonnal megvan a kapocs, és a srác el is hívja őt egy randira. Mint kiderül, nem is akármilyen programot talál ki kettejüknek, ugyanis egy Slam költészeti estre viszi el a lányt. Az este tökéletesen alakul és mindkettejükkel madarat lehetne fogatni a randi után, de aztán eljön a hétfő reggel, amikor is Layken megérkezik az új iskolájába és kiderül, hogy Will Layken angol tanára. Így fel kell(ene) adniuk valamit, ami szinte még el sem kezdődhetett közöttük, de ha hagyják, valami különleges és gyönyörű alakulhatotott volna ki belőle.

Imádtam a karaktereket! Úgy éreztem mindegyikük egy-egy pici darabkája az egésznek és ők így együtt teszik bámulatossá a könyvet. Lake és Will nagyon erős személyiségek és annak ellenére, hogy gyásszal és fájdalommal kell megküzdeniük, mindketten erősek, fiatalok és humorosak tudnak maradni. Will annyira imádnivaló karakter, egy igazi költő, akinek gyönyörű gondolatai vannak és megpróbálja a lehető legteljesebb és legvidámabb életet biztosítani a kisöccse számára. Kel és Caulder hihetetlenül aranyosak és viccesek voltak és nagyon sokan nevettem rajtuk, Lake anyukája pedig a bölcs szülő szerepét töltötte be, aki megpróbál segíteni a gyerekeknek túljutni minden nehézségen. A slam versek különlegesek és erőteljesek voltak, és minden egyes soruk megtalálta az utat a lelkemig.

Ez egy csodálatos és szívszorító romantikus történet volt, tele megvívásra váró csatákkal, csodálatos költészettel és felejthetetlen karakterekkel.

My Review in English

I read this book after the Hopeless series and maybe this one doesn’t beat me to the ground so much like that, but I absolutely can’t believe that this is the debut novel of Colleen Hoover. This book was brilliant, and amazing, and heartbreaking and captivating! I love Colleen Hoover so much, she is one of my favorite authors of all time. Maybe I like the books of hers so much because she writes a really humorous, simple way, but every book of hers has a soul, and there are really true and important thoughts in every one of them. She always finds a way to add something special for her books. Sometimes this is music, or paintings, or a very different kind of POV. This time Slam poetry makes this book so much more special than any other novels. That is the one thing that tells us the most important massage of the story.

After her father’s death, 18 years old Layken has to move from Texas to Michigan, with her nine years old brother and her mother, because they can’t afford their life in Texas anymore. When they arrive at their new house, Layken’s little brother, Kel immediately befriends the boy next door, Caulder, who is the same age as him. Meanwhile Layken meets Caulder’s elder brother, Will.  Layken (aka Lake) and Will have and instant connection, and Will asks Layken out for a date. This date is really special because Will takes Lake out for a Slam poetry night. The night goes perfectly and they both feel above the clouds after the date. But on Monday, when Lake arrives the new high school where she attends to her senior year, it turns out, that Will is Layken’s English teacher. They have to give up something that never really started between them, but could have turned out something special and beautiful.

I loved the characters so much! Every one of them is a little piece of the whole, and they made this book amazing together. Both Lake and Will has a really strong personality and despite they have to fight against grief, they still can stay strong, young and funny. Will is so sweet, he is a true poet, he has so many thoughts and he tries his best to provide a full and fun life to his little brother. I loved Kel and Caulder so much! They were super funny. 🙂  Lake’s mom was the clever adult who always helped them to overcome the difficulties. The slam poems of the book were so unique and strong, and they found their way to my heart one by one.

It was a beautiful and heart-breaking love story with a lot of battles, amazing poems and unforgettable characters.
