Zene a könyvben – Music in the Book #7

This week I chose one of my favorite songs by Goo Goo Dolls, the Iris. I love this song and it always reminds me to the film City of Angels, which I also loved so much! 🙂

I found this song in the book Real by Katy Evans. To tell covers_244785the truth I was not overwhelmed by this book, but I saw the potential in it. I think the subject chosen was really strong and it could have been a really great book, and maybe this is the reason why I felt disappointed at the end. Because the story went down on a lame-erotic path, and at the and I felt like if I saw again a “one.word.sentence”, or the “my sex clenches”, „eight-pack” or „lick” phrases I will jump out the window. And it also disturbed me that at the end it still didn’t turned out why exactly Brook has been chosen by Remy from 500 other women. This is a little unbelievable this way. But there was one thing what was really unique and I liked it very much: the way that Remy communicated with Brook trough music. The most important moment was when he gave her the song Iris, and later this became a recurring motive.  Unfortunately beside all of that I still couldn’t give more than 3,5 stars to this book. But like they say: each to their own. 🙂

“So then I put on my headphones to see which one he selected for me, and something happens to my body when I hear the first words of the song, And I’d give up forever to touch you … from the Goo Goo Dolls “Iris” song.

And I’d give up forever to touch you …
Cause I know that you feel me somehow…
You’re the closest to heaven that I’ve ever been and I don’t want to go home right now…

I duck my head to keep him from noticing that I’m blushing and almost have to force myself not to pause it because it feels unbearably intimate.
To listen to this song.
That he strangely selected for me to listen to.
But I don’t dare pause it. Even when he leans forward to catch my expression. His knee brushes mine, and the point of contact blazes through me as the song keeps spilling into my ear.

And I don’t want the world to see me, it says, but I want you to know who I am…

I think I’m not even breathing, I don’t even know if I can.”
