Az Uncharted Julie Johnson tizedik regénye, és ezzel együtt ez a tizedik történet, ami során az írónő képes volt lenyűgözni a tehetségével. Egyszerűen nem tudok betelni a könyveivel, és bár az írónő The Girl duettjét jóval kidolgozottabbnak éreztem, ezt a könyvét is nagyon szerettem.

Violet egy 17 éves lány egy kis New Hampshire-i kisvárosból. A gimis végzős évét követő nyáron úgy dönt, hogy az egyetem előtt még szeretne világot látni, így amikor egy lehetőség megtalálja őt, hogy Au Pair-ként dolgozhat egy hat éves kislány mellett egy csendes-óceáni szigeten, egy pillanatig sem gondolkozik. Azonban az álomvakáció rémálommá válik, amikor a repülő, amin utazik lezuhan, és hirtelen egy lakatlan szigeten találja magát az óceán közepén egy mogorva, faragatlan férfival és egy sérült légiutas-kísérővel.

Violet az egyik legkiemelkedőbb karakter, akiről eddig olvastam. Hihetetlenül bátor és találékony volt, főleg a korához képest. Beck eleinte kicsit csiszolatlan volt az élek körül, azonban ahogy a történet lassan kibontakozott, megmutatta, hogy mennyire nagyszerű és figyelmes férfi, akinek hatalmas szíve van. A szereplők ereje és bátorsága sokszor szíven ütött. Mindenki szeretné hinni, hogy bármilyen nehéz szituációban megállná a helyét, és ő is kemény és erős lenne, de őszintén remélem, hogy ezt soha nem kell megtudnom. Julie Johnson stílusa kiemelkedő és magával ragadó volt, mint mindig, és nagyon tetszett, hogy az írónő jellemző humora is olykor-olykor megcsillant a lapokon, még így is, hogy nem egy könnyű témáról írt. Tetszettek a szereplők közötti szócsaták és a köztük lévő kémia, és még inkább tetszett az a megszakíthatatlan kötelék, amelyet ez az elképzelhetetlen esemény és az egymásba vetett bizalom kényszere hozott létre Violet és Beck között. Julie Johnson hozott egy tabu szálat is a történetbe a szereplők közötti nagyobb korkülönbséggel, azonban kicsit sajnálom, hogy az írónőnek nem volt lehetősége ezt igazán kibontani.

Egy nap alatt fejeztem be ezt a könyvet, mégis azt kívánom, hogy bárcsak hosszabb lett volna. SPOILER {{ Személy szerint én nagyon hiányoltam a történet lezárását, vagy egy epilógust arról az időről, miután Violet és Beck hazatértek. Én őszintén úgy gondolom, hogy például a Számkivetett című film esetén Tom Hanks hazatérése, hogy mit talált otthon és hogy hogyan kezdte újra az életét legalább olyan fontos volt a történet szempontjából, mint az az idő, amit a szigeten töltött. }} És talán pont ez és a történet hossza volt az, ami miatt úgy éreztem, hogy lettek volna olyan mélységei a könyvnek, amelyek felfedés nélkül maradtak, és ami miatt hiányérzetem van.

Összességéében nagyon tetszett ez a könyv, amely egy magával ragadó történet önmagunk megismerésről, túlélésről, szerelemről, bátorságról és veszteségekről. Mindenképpen ajánlom!

Tehát az írónő most megírta az előző könyveiben szereplő film alapjául szolgáló könyvet. :)*

Uncharted is the tenth novel written by Julie Johnson, and it’s the tenth novel when the author was able to blow my mind with her amazing talent. I just can’t get enough of her books and although The Girl Duet by the Author felt a little more developed and thought-through, this story also hooked me from the very beginning and I truly loved it.

Violet is a 17 years old girl from a small New Hampshire town. The summer after her senior year of high school she decides that she wants to see the world before she leaves for college, so when an opportunity finds her, and she can be an Au Pair for a six year old on an island in the Pacific Ocean, she jumps into it without thinking. But her dream vacation turns into a nightmare and a fight for survival when her plane crashes and she finds herself on an uninhabited island in the middle of the ocean with an ill-tempered stranger and an injured flight attendant…

Violet is one of the most amazing heroines I’ve ever met. She is brave and smart beyond her age. Beck was a little rough around the edges in the beginning but he turned out a great, caring guy, with a huge heart. The strength of the characters is something that shot me to the heart so many times. Everybody hopes that they would be as though as them in the same situation but I truly hope that I never have to find out. Julie Johnson’s writing style was amazing and captivating as always, and I truly loved that some of her sense of humor shined through the pages even if it’s a story that deals with serious subjects. I loved the banter and the chemistry between Violet and Beck and I loved even more how this unimaginable event created a kind of bond between them what is stronger than anything. From enemies they slowly became lovers who trust each other without a second though. I loved that with the huge age gap between them Julie Johnson brought a little taboo feel into the story although I’m a little sad that the author didn’t have the chance to really unfold this thread.

I finished this book in one sitting but I truly wish it would’ve been a bit longer. *SPOILER*{{ I really missed the closing part of the book or an epilogue about the time when the characters return home. I honestly think that in the movie, Cast Away it was as huge part of the story when Tom Hanks returned home, what he found and how he started his life over, than the whole part when he was on the island. }} Maybe the length of the book was the reason why I felt like there were depth of the story what stayed unrevealed.

Overall this book was amazing and well written and I truly loved it! This is a beautiful story about self-learning, survival, love, bravery and loss. I highly recommend it!

 

*Side note: Julie Johnson’s amazing duet, The Monday Girl & The Someday Girl, was one of my favorite stories of 2016-2017. It’s a Hollywood story about a film-shooting in Hawaii. The movie is based on a book called Uncharted and it’s about a man and a woman who survive a plane crash on the Pacific Ocean. And now the Author wrote Uncharted the book from her other book. :)*
